I recently returned my rental car, and the experience was extremely frustrating. The staff immediately focused on the rim of the car, knowing very well that rim damage is not covered by the insurance. The agent spent almost 30 minutes inspecting every inch of the rim, looking for anything she could classify as “damage.”
I tried to explain clearly that the marks she was pointing at were already there when I received the car. Unfortunately, because I didn’t have photos from the pickup day, she refused to listen and insisted that I must pay the maximum charge. There was no proper comparison with previous records, no documented evidence, and no willingness to understand my point.
What made the situation worse was that they knew I had a flight to catch. Instead of helping or being reasonable, they used it as pressure — pushing me to pay immediately, saying there was no time to discuss or escalate the issue. It felt unfair, unprofessional, and completely customer‑unfriendly.
I’ve rented cars in many countries, and I’ve never experienced such behaviour. The inspection was excessive, the charges were unjustified, and the attitude was unacceptable. I strongly recommend future customers to take detailed photos of the car at pickup, especially the rims, because this company seems ready to charge for anything they can find.
I will not be renting from them again.

Overall chap did a good job
Extremely rude and abrupt. Try to blame me for him to stay longer at job, which was extremely un-professional. Lied about the office closing time, as I was entering the terminal the office was still open after 2015 Chap was only I treating in charging more and more Didn’t know how to process looked confused most of the time Extremely disappointed experience I will have to think twice to use top rent in the future

The customer services is very poor they provide a contract in Bulgarian and not in English.. I picked up the car 5 hours late. I explained that I would be returning the car at 5.30pm. It was not explained that I need to return the car at 3.30pm and if that if I was 1plus hour late I would have to pay for an additional 80Euros!!. I booked the car through Wizz air and purchased Axa insurance as this was to cover any excess. Yet when I picked up the car they said the insurance was rubbish and I should pay an additional 10 euros a day for their insurance, which I did even though I had already paid the extra insurance through Wizz Air. The additional costs was more the fee for the car hire when booked through Wizz air. I certainly will not use this company again. I travel to Bulgaria a lot and normally use Hertz I tried this company as it was recommended by Wizz Air. But never again, the service was appalling there was no understanding and just very rude and obnoxious.

Charged for been late 1 hour ..when we picked the car up 5 hours later than arranged when we arrived you did not suggest a refund so why charge for extra hour . Also did not use car till insurance was delivered to us by speedy courier for a day . Worried it was not covered. And the rude guy on reception when we dropped car off was uncalled for

Rented a car from 0000 on 30th of may.
Websote clearly said GMT+1 (IE BST).
TOOK THE car at 0200 on 31st but they said they were expecting me 26 hours earlier in the early hours of thr 30th not then so charged me extra days rental. This is entirely because their website is flawed
When I took the car i confirmed that i was returning the car at 1600 bst 1800 Bulgaria time. The guy was yes that's not a problem no worries etc. Then lied to my face saying we never had this conversation. Valko was his name, and he is a criminal. I am posting to every single Facebook page with British people who live in Bulgaria to avoid you as you are just to take advantage of people
Arrived at Bulgaria time 1800.They fined me an extra day rental, a penalty fee, tax and any other things they could make up. An extra 57 euros.
They said that that fee was on top of keeping the 250€ deposits.
Total cost for a 4 day rental €565.
I used to work for enterprise rent a car and even they weren't as criminal as this.
First and last time i come to Bulgaria, will be claiming it all back from my credit card company as a section 75 claim but just bullying behaviour

I was very annoyed by the late charge which was never communicated to us upfront, and the attitude from the attendant was very rude and disrespectful because when I complained that the contract is in Bulgarian and I couldn't have been expected to have read these T&Cs I was advised by the rude and dismissive attendant that I should have used Google Translate on my phone to translate the entire contract. As we had returned the car within the days we had paid for I did not feel that a late charge was warranted and this has left a very sour taste on the whole experience of renting from TopRent. Our friends who we were travelling with rented from a different agency, was also late returning their car, and weren't charged anything.

I have first time booked an electric car and I had no experience about the consumption. The battery charge was %74 which was meant to be minimum %80. I was charged 35BGN which is really too much. I am a regular customer of Top Rent a Car and I was dissappointed this time. You can not find a charging station everywhere and %6 was not really a huge amount. The car comsumes electricity whilst in traffic which you can not guess how much charge you will end up with.

I would not recommend an electric car because you can not find a charging station everywhere. You can only find in a few places and have to wait hours for the car to be charged.
